take an open mind, a good book, some music, passport and a pack of playing cards. The less you take the better cos you will end up buying stuff anyway. Having said that take the right clothing.

Hello Atula,
I’ve been in Japan for 9 years now, and I still am.
Well, the things that I really recommend you take with you are.
- A good insurance with your VISA card. (do NOT be greedy)
- An electronic dictionary, and also before you go abroad, study the language and memorize all the stuff that really helps: “Where is the hospital”, “How much is …”, etc…
- Clothe that are adapted to the place you go.
- Condoms.
- A map.
Also, take with you a good quantity of courage, determination and motivation!
