My boyfriend is moving to Rome to help start a church plant. i can’t come with him because of school and knowing this he is still going anyways with no way of seeing me for about a year. Lately he’s been with me less and less and acting like he doesn’t really care. Do you think this is a way of leaving me without any complications?

he may be as upset about leaving as you are, but it is his life. He will have to decide if he wants to follow this opportunity and he will live with his decision for the rest of his life. The best you can do is talk to him.Ask him what he thinks. No demands and no solutions. Simply get it out in the open and do your best not to get upset if it is not the best answer.
Knowing what guys are like, if he really wants to be with you the distance to Rome will not stop him.
