question by N.N.

N.N. asked 10/13/2009:

Let’s play the word association game.
Its simple, someone gives a word, and you (or anyone else) gives a word that can be reasonably connected or associated with it (the more random the word the better..!)

So here is a word to start you all off with;

Tree!!(please don’t say green!)

We are curious to find out, what YOU think! Please log in or sign up, it's free!

october answered:

er new word shall be sickness. Yay I’ve broken up for Christmas now!! Just thought you needed to know… :P

october answered:

Haha. My word shall have to be disgusting, for flesh-eating zombies always are…
Oh dear I’m going to sneeze. And I don’t know why you needed to know that, but never mind…. :P

october answered:

Haha really?? :D
Well you are sweet so you’ll have to accept it. :P Oh but we already had sweet….. :] hahaaha

october answered:

Ugh I knew as soon as I clicked the ‘post answer’ button that I’d already done it… Ah well. I’m losing at this game… :P
Ahh thanks you’re so sweet!! :D
ok new word: flesh

october answered:

Haha oh dear. Sorry it’s been a while… well a few days… I’ve managed to go down with a cold on top of the glandular fever, so I’ve been pretty out of it…
bikinis make me feel fat. Sad, but true… :P

october answered:

Haha ok then… that could take a while… :P
Um volleyball.

october answered:

Haha yes that was VERY predictable of me. Ah well.. :P
Anyway, I shall redeem myself with bay. Although how that’s redeeming I really don’t know… :P

october answered:

Golly that would be terrifying!! I must stop being so predictable.
Now if I was predictable I would say butter, but as I’m not, I shall say dripping. My mother always goes on about bread and dripping.

october answered:

Ahh no no I just meant… ahhh never mind. I’m sorry. :S Please do be touched :]
um so I shall say mould. Lovely and green and blue and furry. My favourite. :P

october answered:

Ahh that makes me happier now I know how to say it… at least, a way to say it :P
And it didn’t mean it like that. You made me sound all pathetic!!
Um yes. A word. Clay.

october answered:

Ahh wow I’m glad you’ve found it… :D I have to say I did like waiting, but that’s probably just cos I get attached to such things… I’ll get used to Harpuia :P Although I don’t know how to say it, which is a tad distressing… And yeah it’s still showing me the red one, but I think it’s just my computer.
Painter
Nope not 100% >:( But I’m ok. Struggling through… :P It’ll be very exciting when I am properly better though!! :] But that’ll mean I have to go back to school fulltime…. :P

october answered:

Well that was terrifying!! Harpuia? Have you found what you’re waiting for then? :]
Ahh sorry nah I’ve just been both busy and out of it… the joys of being ill in the run up to Christmas, eh? :P
Creativity and Imagination, which produced the dancing badgers and imaginary rabbits :]

october answered:

Well yes I suppose it is… but it’s still after death, so therefore death is still unavoidable. But it’s also another type of life. It doesn’t really fit with this idea of life we have on earth.
Ahh dancing badgers!! My favourite!! Ahh won’t teapot look silly trying to imitate the badgers… I can picture it now… He’ll be stumbling over his own feet trying to keep up with the pros… :P

october answered:

Ahh it is an achievement!! Do you know any other conversations on here that’ve lasted this long?? :P
And yeah, I will… and no occasion, I’m just gonna try and slip it in somewhere… should brighten my day a bit… :]
We will never gain immortality. So yes, forever.

october answered:

Hahaha I like that phrase. I shall use it in conversation tomorrow. That’s the challenge. :P
Death. It’s unavoidable.

october answered:

Ahh chinese whispers is the worst if someone has bad breath :P

october answered:

Oh but we love the songs!! And we can sing along at the tops of our voices! :]

october answered:

Haha yeah I know what you mean about textures – I can’t stand peas or beans or any kind of pulses because of the texture… but there are so many different textures in fruit and veg!! But you are entitled to your tastes… :]
Ahh roast turkey for Christmas!! :D how exciting!!

october answered:

No fruit and veg at all??!! How do you cope? Literally I wouldn’t be able to stand it! But then again, I couldn’t stand being a vegetarian either – I like meat too much. :]
And yes, you’re probably right, the ch sound does seem quite likely…. ah well I can’t help being stupid… :P
Ahh Teapot…. :]

october answered:

Haha double post again!! :P
And yeah it is a very odd saying. But one of the few that is based on touch, I suppose. Because if you think of cheese, and then chalk, and how they feel to touch, well it’s pretty opposite. Or that could be just me being strange. Oh dear I’m finding it difficult to write coherent sentences tonight. Anway, new word shall be pickle. Personally, I can’t stand the stuff. But never mind.

october answered:

Haha yeah it was rather odd that visor….
Ahh from pinstripe… to chalk. Because in something rather (dad’s army perhaps?) someone uses chalk to make a pinstripe suit… ahh yes I think it’s pike. :P

october answered:

Oh I see!! Yes I get confused easily… :P
righty then. Loops…. ahh my favourite cereal as a child was always honey nut loops. With the bee!! ahh good times. :]

october answered:

What do you mean double post?? Oh wait do u mean we’ve had loops already??

october answered:

Ahh no they didn’t!! that’s ridiculous!! Pasties all the way!! :P
And a stressful side effect of having curls…. frizz.

october answered:

Oh no I just mean I’m regressing back to my ill state, and it’s rather depressing. Sorry – I should have explained that one… :]
Haha very predictable… I do love a good Cornish Paaasty tho :P The crimping is the best bit though. I’m sorry I can’t help it – cornish by roots, I am :]

october answered:

Um yeah mine’s been ‘not bad’ too. I’m not a fan of regressing though. But I’ve been putting together a short story collection for my ex’s birthday present. It’s giving me more pleasure than it’ll give him, so it’s fine.
Haha musically majestic and mentalist filled!! So perfect!! :P
next word Cornish :]

october answered:

Catholics.
Had a nice day? :]

october answered:

Haha I thought I had. See all science teachers are evil!! Evil or stupid…. :P
And from agendas and diaries and everything in between.

Uppity, me? I would never… :P

october answered:

Don’t you sigh at me, Mister!! :P
Liar. My science teachers taught me all the way through that light doesn’t bend, and then I get to yr 11 and the say ‘oh yes, it does bend’. I’ve told you this before, I think, but what the hell. It’s a stressful story.

october answered:

Haha I can’t help it – it’s always on my brain!! :P You have your fire, I have my languages…
righty then maths

october answered:

Indeed. For without the context you can’t get any of the references. :]

october answered:

Ahh I used to read all the time, then I stopped cos I had no time… but since I’ve been ill been reading much more again, and it’s nice :]
In languages it’s always useful to know the past participle: laughed, dreamed, died etc. :]

october answered:

ARGH internet keeps dying. It lasts for like 2 seconds then dies for days… >:(
um new word shall be future, as will is used to denote thefuture tense, eg I will do my homework. Except I really can’t be bothered right now…. :S
And it wasn’t that I didn’t listen, it was just that I read books that were aimed at much older children, so I came across words I’d never seen written before, so I made up my own way of saying them…. :]

october answered:

Haha I thought it might provoke an outrage…. people have very strong feelingsabout harry potter…
haha I used to read chaos as ‘Cha-hoos’ when I was little. I also used to read determined as ‘dett-erminded’. Thus the words are forever linked as I was incessantly teased by my family. Hehe I was a quirky child…. :P

october answered:

Hehe you make me grin. :] Ahh teapot…. I missed him!!
hmm I could go nice and well something rather and say ahhh phoenix – the order of the phoenix. Hehe harry potts all the way. Hmm I don’t know what I think about it at the moment. The books are a darn good read, and I like them, but I havent seen the most recent film yet cos I’m kinda bored of them… Anyway…
bis spater. :] (until later, in german)

october answered:

ahh yes a new word :] thanks. Right well I choose blackbird. Better, I hope. :]

october answered:

Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( pleeeeeaase can I keep playing??
Oh yeah that didn’t really make sense… Well he wrote this poem that seemed to be about magpies, but it was really a metaphor for writers. It was better than it sounds. And it was a performance poem.

october answered:

Hahaha ahh good times :] oh dwarves. I’m friends with a load of dwarves. Oh my word that’s harsh. But it’s not what it seems: I always tease them for being short, and the stupid thing is I’m only about an inch taller than them… but they are the shortest people in the year, and they’re all friends… ANWAY….
300 WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YAY!!! Yes songs of fishermen and bearded wives…. and that havoc-wreaking exercise sounds like a lot of fun, I must say!! Hehe.
Oh my has it really been 50 days?? That ages… It doesn’t feel that long. Ok maybe it does…
anway. writer. I once knew a poet who wrote a poem with a double layer of magpies and writers…. :]

october answered:

Ahh good I’m glad you made some sense of it…. :P
varnish… hmm varnishing makes things so shiny. Predictable, I know, but never mind. We can’t always be creative…
Sun-dried tomatoes and bearded-fishermen!! :]

october answered:

Oh my 4 days!! That’s ridiculous!! I apologise for such atrocious behaviour. And I’m so glad you’re glad to have me back. :] I’m surprised you didn’t enjoy the relief of not having me pestering…. that sentence made no sense. Never mind.
Well I am a positive person by nature… at least, I try to be. :] And loving things is much more fun than hating them. Actually I think I just like disagreeing with people, so whenever someone moans I automatically say I love it… and so I’ve convinced myself to love everything. Anyway… that was rather a tangent…
Ah you and your fire…
`Jumps up and down and waves maniacally back` Haha
Hmm I have to agree about silver jewellery… not that I ever wear much. I never think about it and can never be bothered…. yes anyway tarnish. Good word that. It just sounds nice.
Lollipops and Laptops!!

october answered:

Ahh me too!! I’ve literally just been thinking about how much I love winter: I love the cold air in my face and up my nose and in my ears, and the wintry smells: the wood smoke from someone’s wood burner stove; the ‘agricultural smells’ from the farm down the road…. oh that’s sickeningly… well something. But I do love summer too, and you just reminded me. :]
But anyway… sorry for my absence. Although it’s probably only been like a day. Feels like years though.
New word…. um earrings :]

october answered:

oops I mean Sandy

october answered:

Sandy. A little rhyming association there….

october answered:

Haha well I like resourceful people!! And I must say that they’re very useful :]

october answered:

Nope – no decent reason, I’m sorry. I’m just a tad flawed too. I’m glad you’re feeling better though :] Woo 300 soon!! That’s very exciting! Maybe this time we can successfully celebrate!! :P It’ll be your post, unless someone else joins in…
Oh yes, a word… hmm. resources

october answered:

statistics
Oh I get pins and needles frequently. I think it’s patrtly to do with bad circulation, but mostly, as you say, sitting in awkward positions. I tend to cross my legs. Bad plan. :P
Sorry I’ve been quite absent recently… I’ve been feeling rather… well let’s just say I had no desire to turn on my computer or really make links with the outside world. Odd, I know.

october answered:

Ahah fine by me!! Um new word…. progress
Oh dear I have pins and needles… >:(
Anyway,
Joyful singing and flightless birds!! :]

october answered:

But that’s not true – it’s only a few people on here who do have faith. They just make a big deal out of it. Not that I’m saying they shouldn’t, but the people who don’t believe don’t go round yelling so, so you don’t notice. Oh dear I’, not sure that made sense… sorry. :P
sport. Oh dear how I hate it. Mostly because I’m absolutely awful at it and it’s a bit too much like hard work… but still :]

october answered:

You can’t prove it… but you can suspect it, which is what I do… :]
Yeah don’t go into that – I might get insulted… although actually I don’t get insulted easily.
anyway… new word – atheist
France and expiry dates!!

october answered:

How is that trapping myself in catch 22s??
Erm sanctity…. Ooo sanctity of life… but we’re bound to have had life, I can’t remember, and I can’t be bothered to check…. so religious

october answered:

Sanity. I frequently refer to losing it. :]

october answered:

Don’t be sorry!! And I feel the need to make my word slightly more positive… so found :]

october answered:

disappear
That was very restrained of you. Smile. :]

october answered:

Oh my that woul be rather exciting!! And yeah… we’re the only ones quite sad enough to keep going… haha :P
Hmm communicate… very important. I might go with translation :] The consequences of mistranslation can be terrifying…
Vitamin A and tigers’ ears!! :]

october answered:

Ahh yeah lots of schools only go up to yr 11. The systems haven’t changed, I shouldn’t have thought. It’s only because we have a sixthform attached. It’s a weird school. Weird, but nice. Yeah they’re practises for uni, I suppose, although barely any ask you to interviews. I’ve applied to uni, and I’ve got some offers, but I’ve decided to withdraw my application from Cambridge, because it’s too much work and pressure when I’m ill – I have to submit essays and go to interviews and stuff. But I’m still appling to the others. :] German and Russian is the plan :] It’s so exciting!! I have a pretty unhealthy love of languages, I think :P
Ahh yes, a word… well maybe I shall go for language :]

october answered:

Wow that’s shocking!! :P Haha ahh there’s a group of 3 singers at my school called Seraphim, and they are lovely, but they annoy me sometimes because they always sing in every single concert and then they have solos and whatnot aswell as their trio. I mean, I know they are good, I have friends who are just as good, but never get anything. And we’re older!! Ok rant over… I apologise for that.
I don’t even know what this mock interview is for… they’re set up by the school for everyone in yr 13. Ugh I got a letter today from cambridge saying ‘come and have an interview’, except that I’ve decided I’m pulling out, and so I got slightly wistful and wondered whether that was the right decision. It was, I was just being silly…
Moss-filled storm winds!

october answered:

Well good job too – hiding from yourself can be very detrimental to the health.
New word is hymn… abide with me. :]
Ugh I just got all sad doing the exact thing I’ve been avoiding for over 2 weeks. I looked at people’s photos from the trip to India I couldn’t go on because I was ill in bed. Why did I do that?? BUT I’M GETTING BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Ahh that’s the reason for the good mood…. :]
Oh my word I have a mock interview tomorrow. What am I doing with my life? Wrecking it is the answer. This is going to be terrifying…
Anyway. Sponges and elephantimes :]

october answered:

Wow over-kill of the italics, methinks. That was not intentional…. :]

october answered:

Oo that reminds me of this song, which I love…

&feature=related
Don’t hide from yourself, confront yourself. Tell yourself firmly but kindly, that there is no need for such behaviour, and that if it’d just take the time to look at the small things – the burnt out leaves falling off the trees; the agricultural smells that linger in the air; the grass forcing its way through the cracks in the pavements – it’d realise that not all is bad. Right. I am odd tonight. Oddly contented. Sorry about that :P

october answered:

Ahh I’m glad I got a smile there :] Maybe the fuse has gone. You need a nice trip to B&Q – you can buy all the bulbs and fuses you need there :P
New word is going to have to be shells.

I hope you’re slightly more smiley today :]

october answered:

oops. Why didn’t that work? >:( I mean calm. :]

october answered:

Ah no that’s rubbish. I’m so sorry to hear that. :( Well I hope the storms end soon and your mind *calm*s down. Oh dear I’m not so good at word of encouragement. But I shall send you some ‘feel-better-and-calming-down vibes’ ~~*~~~~~~*~~~ There you go. I hope that helped. :]
Don’t let things be dark. Darkness is easily beaten – turn on a light :]

october answered:

You ok?? :S
Hmm that’s surreal – you’re still red on here. And have always been. Maybe my computer just likes the red one. :]
My word shall be… oh how I want to say comforts, but I already said Comfort ages ago, and I don’t think the plural counts as a different word, do you?? So I shall go with tame.
Sympathy and right-wing politicians…

october answered:

Oh how surreal. I was on a different computer and your picture had changed – you were green…. and now you’re not. Odd.
Hmm the green-eyed monster….
Ooo have people been saying lots of nice things about you recently?? How exciting for you!!
Why thanks, even if you’ve never heard my voice :]
Haha well I don’t usually go in for revenge… I’m waay to passive and pushovery. But I think bullies definitely deserve it!! :]
Ugh I can’t get Youtube to work – it keeps stopping and starting…. :( I shall try and listen again later :]
Fairy-liquid and a giant squid!

october answered:

Wow you’re green!! :D
I didn’t really think yu were an evil child!! No evil child could turn out as nice as you… ew sickening. Anyway… I despair in myself. Haha I like your chasing of bullies!!
Well I don’t know whether I have a good voice either. I sing in choirs and such and I have lessons and I’ve performed in musicals. Ok I must have reasonably good voice…. but it’s kind of impssible to tell in my eyes. And I do get carried away sometimes… and I have quite a surprising high range, so there is a similarity to screaming….
Eggs bendict and classroom antics!!

october answered:

Haha yes, I know… I’m slightly odd, in fact say we say ‘slightly odder that usual’, tonight. Not quite sure what’s gotten into me. I think I need an early night. Especially as I’m going into school tomorrow (YAY) hehe.
Well I wouldn’t like to have met you as a child on a dark night…. But wait, I swear we’ve had dark… no I think that was darkness. So anyway, I shall go with scream next. Something I don’t do that often, I must say. It puts too much strain on the voice. Although sometimes when I’m singing it sounds practically like screaming….

october answered:

Ermm how exactly did I forget to put in my word??
naughty I feel like I’m scolding a little boy. Either that or I’m talking to a particular friend or mine, and it’d be shortly followed by ‘saucy’ and ‘sexy’… but that’s a long story. Actually it’s not. It’s merely a consequence of her personality….

october answered:

Haha. And this D: looks like a traumatised smilie. :P
!!doog s’tahT !!neht yppah lla er’ew lleW
I have a sore thoat from too much singing. Just thought you’d like to know…. Actually it just sprang into my head and I have a tendancy to write whatever makes that journey into the cavern that is my mind.
Goatheards and little girls! (ooo you can tell I’ve just found the sound of music songbook and just sang my way through it…)

october answered:

P: nirg em ekam uoy ahaH
Loving it!!
You and your rhyming!! :P Haha
Right this has gone on long enough. This is war!! Haha fear not – my competitive streak hasn’t gone that far yet. I just wanted to give a bit of excitement to the word… :P
Redcurrants and peace in NeverNeverland. :]

october answered:

Hmm I suppose.
Hehe I don’t watch much tv either (except when I’m ill…) but when I get fixated on something I get very fixated. Like Dr Who, or I’d Do Anything. That was amazing. Oh dear musicals again… :P
Jug. Interesting word isn’t it?? jugjugjugjug. It sounds odd. :]
Haha I love the idea of horses on monkeyback…
tschuss!! :] (that was german :P hehe sorry couldn’t resist)

october answered:

YAY!!! Thank youuu :]
And I shall reply with catcher… although quite why you’d want to catch your dreams, I don’t know – I love them with a passion!! Except nightmares, which do actually to some extent fascinate me and don’t worry me too much. Excpet one where I woke up and wasn’t sure whether it was real or not… that was very stressful. Only ever done that once though.
Hehe yay Dad’s Army!! haha I haven’t watched it for ages… Ooo doctor who in 20 minutes!!! arghh!! so excited!! Oh dear. I’m not usually one to get addicted to tv programmes. Actually that’s a complete lie, I just don’t tend to get addicted to the same things as everyone else….
Tranquility and monkeys on horseback!! :]

october answered:

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!
But it wasn’t technically a word, because it wasn’t intended to be a word… AND we didn’t carry on from clocks – you put in your actual word (white) so we carried on from there. So HAH!! :P
Couldn’t help the competitive nature…. sorry. :P
So my new word is fantasy, if you’re not accepting time. Hehe realms of fantasy… Dad’s Army reference :]
Lalalalalaalalaa don’t you love my singing? :P

october answered:

Ahh no it’s not!! It’s english. But it was in reference to German. It’s the name of a grammatical case. You have it in Latin too. And Russian, I think. But in German you’d call it Dativ, I think…. hmm I’m doubting myself… that’s worrying. :P
It’s because I’m so individual!! Or weird perhaps.
Time goes by and I sit here like a snoozing potato. I really should get on with some work. :P

october answered:

Did I say a German word?? I don’t remember that… although it sounds pretty much like something I’d do… :P
What an exciting idea!! until someone comes along who can’t work out how to do bold :P haha. But I thought it was pretty obvious – “next word:________” is quite self explanatory, is it not?? :]
But now this is really exciting!! I can write a long load of rubbish and never even mention the game, whilst still be playing. I shall write whatever I want, go wherever my spirit takes me. Life goes on and I dance like a chimpanzee on drugs.

october answered:

Haha we don’t talk too much!! It makes it more interesting!!
New word: Lost
Lost for words… what a lovely cliche :P

Expath answered:

“uhmmmm……” isn’t a bad word to be associated with “artes” I don’t think!
My next word is: speechlessness

laneya07 answered:

uhmmmm……

Expath answered:

The word is tears.
.
The door is love.
.
The word is now artes.
(An anagram of tears; also tear is very emotional, so can art be. What only English words you say? Too late.)

laneya07 answered:

you peeps talk to much I cant keep up… whats the word?

october answered:

Haha yes they are very impractical. Especially in the long narrow corridors backstage – any time anyone wants to pas you have to lift up the back of your tutu and lean against the wall…. Ahh those were the days…. :P I don’t dance any more, though sometimes I wish I did – I miss it.
Well yes we do come out with very random stuff. Ahh I’m glad I’ve been restrained with my random questions tho :P
Ooo collossal :D I like that word…
New word: Fears
Oh and I love the song!! Loving the lyrics :]
Jumping beans and autographs!!

october answered:

Haha yes well maybe not on you… But I was wearing a tutu at the time, so the legwarmers tied in with the theme, you know? (it was fancydress – I don’t usually go out in tutus. Altho… that could be quite fun. They’re quite impractical though – sitting in cars is the worst.)
Well you know I ask the randomest questions… especially that late at night :P
Ahh don’t we just love group hugs :]
Oh new word: Great
Oh and good morning!! Except it’s evening now, sorry about that. :P

october answered:

Friend requested you!! Wooo!!! Hahaha yes anyway… night night :]

october answered:

Well you were rather out of it at the time…. :P
Ooo bowling shoes!! Too big or too small?? Aren’t they the most fetching shoes ever :] They do work well with legwarmers I have to say…
New word: Obligation
I think I should go to sleep… Sorry about that – I hate to desert you. Sleep well :]

october answered:

Oh I do I do!! I just don’t appreciate you rifling through my handbag!! But I do love your badgers :]
Ahh I forgot it’s not the middle of the night for some people :P Gosh we are weird…
BYE RISSA!!!!!!!!!
Yes, new word: Weary.

october answered:

HEY!! My out-of-tune singing is very fetching, I think you’ll find. I saw you gazing in admiration last time…
At least I don’t start looking for badgers in everybody’s handbags now do I?? :P

october answered:

Ahhh look we were going to celebrate 150…. and we didn’t even do anything for 200!! Haha we got so carried away….
AND did you notice – we have all of the posts on the lastest posts board…. haha so much for helping people :P We;re helping each other be happy :]

Rigth new word: (oh how I want to say mentalists, but I can’t….) So…. ‘Path’

october answered:

No it’s mine!! :P

Okay – new word: killer
And it was good constructive yelling, so it’s all good :]

october answered:

sounds good to me. :]
So whos turn is it??

october answered:

Haha ok injury – lawyers

october answered:

alrighty then
new word: nurse

october answered:

Hehe me too.

What word were we on??

october answered:

YOU CAN’T GIVE UP!!!!!!!! :( I might cry. of course I do have a tendency to overrreacting…

october answered:

Haha I’m sure you are Waiting :P
But you do come across as sweet :] I’m sure it was a compliment!!

New word: doctor

october answered:

Haha doubling again. From you, new word: me

october answered:

sour :]

october answered:

Woah totally behind here. I can’t cope!!
so yes, from snow: flakes

october answered:

Hehehe you make me grin. Oh and the good old badgers :]
Ahhhh TEAPOT!! :] I missed him.
And there is a six – what’s your word?! :P Ahh well I shall go from wine.
so New word: tipsy
And I really ought to go to bed in a minute… you guys are too distracting!! :P

october answered:

grapes :]

oh I really want some right now…

october answered:

Veins

october answered:

FAILING HERE!!! :P

october answered:

I don’t mock you!! I’m sorry!! :(
It wasn’t deliberate….

New word: Guts
Line from a song – I have passion and guts, I want this and it shows…

Better post quick!!
It’s so exctiing with three!! haha

october answered:

Oh dear. Done it again.
Well kiss —> gloss works too.

october answered:

Hahahaha you make me grin :]
You took too long my dear :P Ahh well what shall we go for?? lips or failure?? or course one could link lips and failure quite easily, so shall we stick with lips?? I get the funny thing the same thing might happen to me now…
but New word: Gloss
You’re right – he was a decent guy, so what am I on about? I shall return to my positive and ever-forgiving self :] hehe
And I didn’t mean that animals don’t think, in fact I think this is all to do with you’re definition of thought and thinking. I put ‘think’ in inverted commas for a reason, because they do of course think, but I don’t believe it’s the same way as we do. My idea of thinking is separate (well sort of) from instinct and emotion, but that’s the real question I suppose – What is thought?
Fairycakes and One-night-stands!!

october answered:

I know!! Isn’t it such a fantastic game! :] Everyone else joined in at the start, but I think they got bored. Not me though!! Haha.
Hmm right then…. I might go with a musicals theme. (an ‘only slight’ obsession :P)
New Word: Understudy

october answered:

Haha well you’re just clever then :] And no one’s been saying stuff behind my back, I don’t think, it’s just my paranoia kicking in.
Hmm yeah I know what you mean about spirals, and I like that image. Oh I don’t know – this is why this questions is such a pain in my eyes. We are just another animal, but what makes us different? Well we ‘think’. Yes they can express emotion and pain, but they don’t have language and therefore they can’t think in the way we do. Or maybe they can’t think in the way we do so they don’t have language…
Anyway, yes back to the game.
New word: Hips (that rhyme -rhythm helps my two hips move… :P haha)
Lollypops and Fairydust!

october answered:

Ooo my!! Hello laneya07 :D We’re not the only ones left!!
Haha are we sticking with clap, or not?? I suppose I shall have to call it if I’m to put a new word… so yes, clap.
So I shall go for NEW WORD: Percussion :]
Hahaha weebl and bob. Legendary.
Ahaha sorry going back to your last post Waiting. Yeah we shall call him it from now on shall we?? Ahh I’m glad I haven’t been too bad. Gonna get worse again now cos I suddenly have horrible suspicions of stuff happening behind my back before we broke up, which is probably untrue, but worries me all the same.
I do agree, but then, if you think more generally – when you think you think in language, well I do, and so without some sort of language we couldn’t think most of the things we think, if that makes sense. We’d merely have emotion and instinct, not these sorts of ideas. Or could we think these things without language?? In that way does does language define thought to a certain extent??
Tentacles and curiosity.
‘Das Leben ist schwerer als die Schwere von allen Dingen’ (life is heavier/harder that the heaviness of all things) Rainer Maria Rilke, Der Nachbar. :] My new favourite quote. Except that one from Einstein – ‘Welche triste Epoche, wenn es leichter ist, ein Atom zu zertrummern, als eine Vorurteil.’ Something like that anyway. ‘What a sad time, when it’s easier to destroy an atom than a prejudice.’ Oh dear my translation’s appalling. But you get the picture.
Anyway, I already said my farewell: Tentacles and curiosity.

Ahh that was a sad closing image. Clowns are sad in my view. I picture a clown and it’s invariably crying, or generally looking sad. That’s nice isn’t it?? :P
Haha that would be an amusing thing for psychiatrists to think. Maybe I’ll become a psychiatrist just so I can think that at the end of a long hard day. And then I can chuckle to myself, sheepishly.
Yeah I see your reasoning there, but they’ve evolved A LOT since then, and I think it’s more to do with travel and stuff, and also the way the human brain works. Because continents all together – well we’re talking billions here…
So it comes down to the big question – does language define thought or does thought define language?? (favourite question of my ex. he was quite an interesting guy(/girl :S) really. Oh my word. Do I ever shut up about him?! >:( I’m such a pain. Anyway.
New word: Music
My aunt’s a music therapist. I think it’s quite interesting. I really ought to talk to her about it, but I never think about it when I have the opportunity.
Aeroplanes and Kangaroos :]

october answered:

Haha the good old mentalists!! :D
And yeah I was thinking that when I wrote it, but then I thought yes the language is heavily influenced, and so is the culture, but how much does that coincide, in things like the lunacy example. That and I was going to give a non-latin based/linked language but couldn’t think of one off the top of my head. And I’m so glad you think I’m a language loony!! That is my aim in life… :D
Ooo 150!! Now that calls for… well, something exciting!!
Hmm Interesting image here of squirrels…. in bowties… and eating nachos, for some weird reason. ANYWAY almost forgot about the game there!!
So next word: Psychiatrist. (oh dear my spelling :S ARGH is that right?! I seriously hope so – I hate spelling things wrong!! It’s not as bad a bad grammar, but still…)
Bright eyes and tennis rackets :]

october answered:

Yes yes ok I was exaggerating… oh dear. The universe doesn’t quite collapse. I always get there just in time and save the day!! Or something….
Yes well anyway…. Ooo luna :] Yeah it’s weird all the stroies and mystery surrounding the moon isn’t it?? Oooo interesting thought!! I wonder whether there are the same linguistic links in other languages such as german or russian or whatever… that would be interesting. Yes language freak, sorry :P
Oh yes, new word needed. Ok then.
New word: Madness
Oh all this reminded me of a song… ’J’ai demande a la lune…’ probably cos the way the french sing it sounds almost like luna. Our french assistante at school was obsessed with it last year…

october answered:

Haha I’m glad you’re keeping a positive light on the subject :]
Ahh no I hate it when that sort of thing happens!! Such a pain! I lose everything all the time… but usually I never get round to getting a new one.. so I have 2 do without and then I really need it and don’t have it and basically the universe collapses… :]
Hmm new word: Moon
Hairstyles and Gingerbreadmen.

october answered:

Ahh TBird has deprived you of your way!! :P
Oh my… I might just lose… that’s a bit scary. Ahh well I’m gonna win!! s ridiculous!! All I want to do is sleep.
Right, on with the game!!
Next word: Crashing

TBird answered:

Your word was: Heat.
My response is: Wave.

october answered:

Hahaha of course it’s not the only reason I’m still playing!! I mean, for one – how do you even win this game?? Surely there is no winning? Therefore I can’t be competitive… And yeah people being competitive can be a complete pain, but because it’s so against my normal nature people just seem to find it hilarious when I get competitive…
Ah yes, new word… Blazing
Oh dear we’re a bit stuck on the fire theme here aren’t we?? :P
Righty-ho must be off – I need to heat up some soup for my lunch :]
Fairytales & Icecream cones!! :]

october answered:

Haha I love your pirate voice!! I’m not even going to try tho…. I see me making a massive fool of myself if I did!! :P
Ahh yes well I am the most competitive person ever. I don’t seem like I would be to the average person… until you put me in a situation where there’s an idea of winning or losing and I’m gone. ’I’m gonna win!’ Is my favourite phrase ever. Oh the French lessons… long story cut short me and a friend, seen as the best two in the class (not up myself sorry it’s just factual) but we are so so so competitive, and there’s a game we used 2 play… always 2 teams, one of us on each. It used to get violent, we were that competitive! And there wasn’t even a prize!! Haha good times. I miss that teacher she was a complete legend….. but she’s pregnant and has moved to wales….. :(
Ooo magma!! How exciting and destructive. Maybe I’ll go for….
New Word: HOT. Ooo capitals. That wasn’t intentional!! Oh well….
Oh shenanigans!! A truly fabulous word!! As is fabulous, in my view… :] Oh how many dotdotdots can I fit in…? My friend thought it was sarcastic and she doesn’t like it, but it’s just me trailing off…. the randomness of my thoughts means I have to show it somehow…. like that. Anyway I’m gonna shut up now…. :P
Striped gratitude and video games :]

Gosh I’m nice tonight aren’t I?? And I’m not deserting by choice!! If you’d like to phone up eclipse and tell them just what you think of them causing this loss of connection, I would be more than happy to let you. It’s such a complete pain!!
Ahh good old teapot!! My dearest friend. Or fiend… Oh but he is so very lonely and Mrs Henderson was so horrible to him before you took him into your care…. maybe that’s why he needs such attention.
Oh good old raving turnips. My favourite. :]
Hmm. My word will be…. Volcano! Just as big as your mountain, and oh so much more powerful!! Mwahahaha.

october answered:

Sorry I deserted…. my internet’s been down for days. I’m hoping it’s back to stay, but it’s doubtful.
Haha good old Mrs Picket :] Oh how I’ve missed the wonderful world of the wide web.
Next word: Hill. I see no other theme to pursue from Jill, sorry….

october answered:

That is hella weird. I just went on youtube and watched a bunch of old Placebo videos and songs that helped influence me throughout my much troubled life. It was awesome the songs that I had simply just forgotten about that empowered me and inspired me to keep going back then so why would they not have the same effect today?

I thought somehow I had navigated back to the Placebo page when I saw your writing on here… It’s just, very odd. Not a lot of people at all talk about Placebo.

You are a fan, yes?

Sigh Ahh, Placebo.

october answered:

new word: Slow
Wow I like ‘Why does it always rain on me’. :] That’s my style. I like stuff where they haven’t mucked around with the voices too much (I’m a singer – I can’t help it)
Ahh I’m glad you like rent. Me and some friends put on the musical at a local theatre like a month ago. It was pretty amazing. (the experience… I’m not that full of myself :P)
Hmm I wonder whether you’d like Lee Mead… I can’t work out what people like… so I just guess too :]

october answered:

I was gonna put another of my suggestions in there…. but forgot. So have a musical!! :]
RENT from RENT :P

october answered:

New word: Lake
Yeah well I do have quite a range in what I like in music. And it totally depends on my mood. But that’s the thing about musicals – I can always find something for any mood. :]
Oh my this could go on forever… haha I’m kidding it’s all good. I like it :]
Hmm not so keen on the new ones… I don’t know, they’re less my style. Strasbourg’s quite goood tho. And I love the radomosity of the other one, just couldn’t listen to it… not sure why. the style. of singing and stuff….
I feel bad now.

october answered:

Next word: tame
I listened to your music!! :D And I liked some of it. Others kind of bored me (no offense) I liked Cooper temple Clause – Promises, Promises, The Futureheads – The Beginning Of The Twist, and Ash – Girl From Mars oh and I liked Howling Bells – Blessed Night too. :) So they will make it onto my ipod I’m sure :]
Haha oh dear maybe I should avoid mrs picket in future then…. :P
Err yeah I don’t quite know why I said that… I love my bed and I couldn’t cope without it. I think I was in a ’what’s the point in anything’ sort of mood. Never a good thing that.
Yes I had noticed your slight obsession with badgers…
I realy hope you meant chestnuts. Because I’m not appreciating the added space.
Olive oil and distant cousins :]

october answered:

next word: Cunning
Oh how I love your mentalists. I honestly feel like part of the crew. Mrs Picket is my bestest friend. She’s teaching me how to fly. And I don’t mind that I keep falling down cos she says that the more bones I break the easier it gets.
Ahh yes bed. The ominous and most peculiar of concepts. Why don’t we all just sleep standing up?? I’d be just as comfy. But it is rather late.
Ahh I enjoy it too. :] Yes we are very sad creatures… but that’s the way I chose to live my life, so stick any who says I should be different.
Sleep well. :]

october answered:

New word: Horse
’Don’t look a gift-horse in the mouth’ :]
Yeah it’s always been red. Ever since you told me you were going to change it, at least. I swear. Or maybe I’m as bad as your mentalists…..
Ahh thanks I’m so happy that I’m at least half-right :]
Um I don’t think blonde is most typical. Lots of people do dye it. But I might be wrong… I don’t know. I’ll now be on the lookout, as soon as I get out of this house again :P Ugh I’m so sick of being stuck at home!! I can’t stand it!

october answered:

next word: Christmas
You so didn’t!! I swear it has not changed. It has always been the red one. Anyway what are these things??
Yeah I’m impressed. Although brunette is the most prominent hair colour in the Uk, so that helps… :] But no, very clever of you indeed. Hmm why did I do this to myself?? I should have seen this coming. And I hate being wrong so much!! Um ok I’ll go for brown… :S
really?? Well that is a lesser known fact. Maybe it is a gnat. Or MAYBE it’s a mosquito who’s flown a very long way…. Either way it seems to have gone. But maybe it’s just waiting till I’m asleep before it feasts on my blood…

october answered:

new word: coals
It actually wasn’t a loaded question… I was just quite intrigued as to whether you’d guess right. And I didn’t think you’d believe the stereotyping… And yeah you’re sort of right, although it’s not mousey – it’s darker than that. But not that dark brown that doesn’t get bleached by the sun….
Ooo I like Carmine :] And of course Teapot is just fantastic!! I do love it…
And no you didn’t!! It’s exactly the same as it always was. I swear.
Oh my. There is a mosquito in here. I can hear it whining. And I do hate mosquito bites – they always end up about 5 inches in diameter on me :( Oh dear…

october answered:

next word: Ginger :]
So go on, have a guess – what hair colour am I?? I’m intrigued….
Haha ahh what a nice name for a bunny :] I do like a good exciting name!! My brother always names his pets the most human names he can find – things like James and Emma. Hehe I go slightly wilder with ones like Einstein. :] Can’t stand names like fluffy or cuddles though. They make me sick.
Hey you never changed your picture…. I swear you said you were going to…

october answered:

Next word: Hair
Ahh that’s cute of your brother :]
Oh dear you really need to get control of them… Ahh that’s Mrs Henderson’s rabbit!! She apparently went out to give it the scraps after cooking the evening meal and discovered a note in the hutch saying ‘bunny says bye-bye’ and she became quite distressed!

Oh and a nice musicals reference!! What a wonderful suprise. :] hehe

october answered:

New word: electricity
I love lightning, I have to say. Thunder just makes me feel hungry… sorry but it does. But lightning makes me so happy. I only saw actual lightning bolts for the first time a couple of years ago, in this massive storm that lasted ages… and I stayed with my head out of the window for literally hours, for a long time after everyone else had gotten bored. What about you??
I think you’re a bit late… reports of complaints from the locals are coming in thick and fast. One guys says he no longer has a front door cause one of your mentalists came and unscrewed the hinges and walked off with it.

october answered:

next word: Storm
Haha I guessed that you were refering back… Ahh well, we all know I’m a complete hypocrite.
Ahh a shame they didn’t go for my fabulous plan!! I would have gone for it… but then, I am slightly slow at catching on sometimes. :P
Haha you shall have fun with them. Maybe you’ll just have 2 drug ’em all. Works everytime.
And good willow trees and infamy to you. :]

october answered:

new word: sky
Yeah I do, but since I’ve been ill I have no idea where they are. Which is incredibly frustrating!! And how surreal… we had this conversation a while back I seem to recall.. only the other way round… :o
Haha the random italics… I get this feeling they weren’t deliberate?? :]
Yay I’m glad I made it into your rotation :] hehe
Ooo a new game?? Oh there are so many music ones… I wonder which you’re thinking of…
Oh how we love randomosity. I have taken to signing my emails with phrases such as ‘Elephants and frogs,’ or ‘Happiness and fiddlesticks,’ as opposed to ‘lots of love’ or whatever I used to write…
Good luck with your mentalists. Tell them I think they ought to go down to the quay and there they shall find the most exciting of prizes…. the Golden Chicken-Wire Cage.

october answered:

New word: Left
Argh my friend always makes that joke… it doesn’t really even qualify as a joke tho… it’s just not funny if you say left every time someone says right, is it?? :]
Oh how rubbish this is… I can’t listen 2 ur songs now cos my brother will kill me – his bedroom is next to mine and he’s trying to get to sleep… and I can hear him sniffing, which is THE MOST ANNOYING THING. Sorry, had to let that out…
I will listen to them in the morning… or maybe afternoon cos I don’t seem to get up till then at the moment. But I will I promise!! And I’m so intrigued I’m not sure I can stand this…
Haha yeah I suppose she is quite feminine… I know what you mean, so I shan’t be offended… But I like it – that album althogether makes me happy… well not necessarily happy, but slightly more content. :]

october answered:

Haha yes I suppose it is quite musical-esque…. oh dear. I’m not doing well at showing that I’m only slightly obsessed am I?? :]
But you forgot your word!! Ths is shocking behaviour!!

october answered:

next word: choice
‘no absolutes! To Absolut, to choice, to the village voice, to any passing fad!’ there’s my only slight musical obsession coming through there…
Haha um maybe that’s not the best one to hunt down… it’s french cafe music (you wanted random). Something more representative of my style of music would be something like Idina Menzel’s ‘Brave’. So what sort of music is your sort of music then??

october answered:

next word: Nothing
Haha yeah well I usually just let them be amazed and amused, and allow it to become an ongoing joke. And then eventually I astound them by actually knowing something!! Haha it’s fun to shock people…
Ok something random…. hmm… L’accordeoniste, Edith Piaf. Hehe that’s a nice random one for you :]

october answered:

new word: difficult
Well I have a variety of musicals… if that counts?? :] hehe No I do have a variety of music. It’s all good. My Ipod is quite random…. But when people say ‘surely you must know this song’ I usually don’t…
Ahhh you’re sweet. :]

october answered:

New word: Precise

Ahh that’s sweet. We all need to be sissy once in a while :] Hehe.
next word: Silence.

october answered:

Ahhh je comprends maintenant!! :]
Yeah I agree :] I prefer autumn though… I like the first time we light the fire (yesterday!!), and all the leaves, and autumn fashions… not sure why, but they always make me happy. The smell of autumn makes me happy too. Wet leaves and firewood. That sort of thing….
So anyway, next word… we need to get off months, so….
New word: Showers
(nice little cliche there :])

october answered:

I might have to go next word: October :]
Hehe yeah I know it does – that’s what makes it so great!! It’s such a beautiful word for such an unbeautiful thing.
Haha my friend and I had great fun trying to convince the younger girls on the french exchange that the seals were actually called ‘phoques’, and we weren’t just making it up…..
Ahh non pourquoi est-ce que la tristesse durera?? Quel tristesse? Nous serons heureux avant que tu le saches. Haha somehow I’m not sure that last bit makes sense…. before you know it?? I don’t know how to translate that… But I’m a massive fan of the subjunctive, so I thought I’d throw it in anyway… haha. Oh how I love french.

october answered:

Dative.
Dative plural N in German :]
Oh I love your french :] and I love the word poubelle – it just sounds so good!!
Oh… dots are… fabulous… !!

october answered:

Hahaha I love that rhyme!! And the raving loon of questionable sanity, of course… :]
Could you not plug your headphones into the computer? Or would that be awkward??
My new word shall be ‘single’, I think, because I am determined to avoid the love/romance cliche, and you know, a single red rose…. Or the rose is all that’s left when you’re single again…. Who knows.
I would like to return to France. I fear my knowledge of the language grows wary, and I miss the macaroons. Gosh I am random sometimes. I do fear insanity. In fact, that is a complete lie. I welcome it with open arms. It makes a nice change, and makes everyone sit up a bit. Plus it gives me a nice excuse to be this weird.

october answered:

Got any earphones maybe??
Oh you’re not ranting at yourself – I’m here!! And I’ve been doing it to you, and a lot worse, so it’s all good….

Haha yeah foggy moors can be pretty tough at times. It’s for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award that we have in England (don’t know whether you guys have an equivalent in America) basically it’s this award where you have to do lots of expeditions on moors (the 4 day walks are for Gold) and other stuff like community service and learning a skill. It’s fun, but such hard work sometimes. I used to hate it with a passion every time I went on a walk, and my friends used to hate me cos I’d be so bad tempered the whole way. The only reason I stuck at it was cos at Gold at my school you get to go to India, and I really really wanted to go. (Also I hate giving things up). But the last two walks I’ve done (last ever in fact) I’ve absolutely loved, for the first time, and that was amazing…. unfortunately now I’ve got glandular fever I can’t go to India, the whole reason I did it! Everyone’s there at the moment, and it’s sickening. I’ve been raising money all year. But it’s ok. I’ve got a lot out of it anyway…

But back to the whistles story… we were lost on this tor, knowing roughly where we were, but the path had totally disappeared, and the compasses were playing up due to the weather. So we were walking what we hoped was north, aiming for this road. Suddenly we hear this car horn repeatedly, and are convinced its the minibus out looking for us. So we walk towards the sound, and every so often we blow our whistles all together, hoping they can hear us. Everyone was really nervous and jittery, and even the girl who is never beaten by anything and knows the moors like the back of her hand was almost in tears at this point. Oh and then came the bogs. Massive quakers. It was awful. I surprisingly felt fine though – secretly I’d always liked a bit of adventure. Provided it wasn’t on a hill and it wasn’t boiling hot, it was relatively exciting. Anyway, to cut a long story short, we found the minibus, finished the walk (it was our last day of 4) and by the time the parents came to pick us up it was brilliant sunshine and not a cloud in sight. Typical.

Gosh that was a long post. Well Waiting… you asked for a story!! And unfortunately I came across it at this time of night… haha :]

october answered:

Just to clarify… mist —> whistles is because when you’re lost in the mist on the moors or whatever you can use emergency whistles to get help. Last expedition I went on was a 4 day trek and we had to use whistles at one point cos we got totally lost in the fog, well not totally lost, but we were trying to get in contact with a supervisor and there was no mobile phone signal, for the first time ever used our whistles…. I could go and tell tell you the whole story… but that wuld be boring especially in the middle of the word association game… :]
