question by jimbo cannon

jimbo cannon asked 02/07/2010:

Sometimes I feel like a lost kid at Walmart that has ran away from their mother. All fun at first, hiding in the clothes racks while you mother grows more and more angry trying to find you, calling your name. Then running away further and further into the sections that you know that your mother would never find you because she never went into that part of the store. Lastly,as more and more time goes by and the whole experience is getting less and less exciting and a fear inside you starts to build into a terror, you realize you want your mother. Guess what? The frantic woman that was searching for you so deligently a few minutes ago, is no where to be found! You look and look for her, you run to the parts of the store where you know she has to be but find nothing but strange, sometimes scary faces and you worry more and more about getting kidnapped and never seeing your mom again. Finally, you give up and run to the service desk and tell them you are lost and you need help.

I feel like that whole experience describes my life. I am that little boy in that store. I feel like I have ran away from God and although he never gave up looking for me, I can not find him. I am at the point in my life now where it’s getting less and less exciting and I am realizing I should have stayed on His path and have not wandered off alone. I need a ‘service desk’ to help me find God because I don’t know where to look anymore and I’m scared.

I don’t know if any of this made any sense whatsoever, but I just needed to vent it out. I feel better now. Thanks, for listening. Sorry if it was a waste of your time!

Thank you Gunshot. Really, that’s what I needed to hear. I think it’s time to start being my own “service desk”. Thanks to everybody who answered me. Good to know that there are actually people out there willing to help!

Gunshot answered:

The service desk in you comparism is a place where you can get help. In the life of a follower all our help comes from God. That familiar feeling of being alone, is not alien to me. However, in my need I call on God and I do that with my praise. When we stray we lose our connection by the sin separation the controls our mind. But then when our heart becomes convicted and we see our wrong, we must first run to him who is able to forgive so that our connection is renewed. Next we must call him to regenerate us. The story can be seen along the lines of the prodigal son story, found in LUKE chpt 15. Man… if God was not merciful to me I would not be alive today to write at all to you. I hate the struggle to keep to God’s path that this life brings. Why is it that we bend to sin so much? Nevertheless, when you see you fallen state, remember your advocate in Christ. Aim not to stray again but if you do run to him before the enemy of our soul seeks to snatch you while sin is within you.
