Thanks to Miss Understood for your reply to my question. I am working on staying strong and may be joining a group someone recommended to do “family of origin” work. Sorry to hear your mother was similar…I hope you were able to undo any damage done.
Take care,
Leah

Sounds like your mom is trying to love her kids by teaching them how to “survive.” She may have had a rough childhood and only survived by burying the pain deep down inside. All her unresolved issues make her angry and callous towards weakness because she survived by denying her weaknesses. When people who have been hurt grow up, they don’t know how to love because they’ve closed off their heart when it wasn’t safe to love as a kid, so the way they love their kids is by teaching them what they know how to do— survive, stay strong, destroy weakness, etc.
.
I REALLY recommend the book “Biblical Healing and Deliverance” by the Kylstras. It touches on a lot of things you’ve mentioned like family problems, mental health issues, etc.
.
ALSO, if you can find any dvds by a preacher named “Jack Frost” at Shiloh Place ministries. He does a lot of healing in this area of parents loving kids and stuff. They work wonders. I think his DVD series is called “Feeling the Father’s Embrace”.
